1) MISSION
Our Mission: To “Stand for Sustainability” on our Planet.
We at eHMDs are trying to help steer our world to a more sustainable place. We are in Phase I and, hence our entire website/apps will continually be reworked to be more efficient for both Buyers and Sellers as we grow. (For the moment we realize our site is a little quirky and raw, but you need to start somewhere. Please work with us as we try to assist sustainability on our earth.) Our top priority is to make our unique and innovative service a safe and trustworthy place for the transfer of ‘lots’ of same size Hand-Me-Down clothing and other items. Our site is a meeting place where the Buyer receives a “lot” of clothing, and the Seller receives the lion’s share of the proceeds (and can donate them to a charity if desired.)

2) SHOPPING / BUYING
How to Shop / Buy – Overview
1) Off the bat, it is recommended you go to the “My Account” tab and register.
2) This will allow you to enter your mailing address on the Buyer Dashboard so Shipping charges can be automatically calculated for you.
3) From the Homepage, you may search eHandMeDowns (“eHMDs”) for “lots” of clothing in specific sizes.
Start with the buttons on the Homepage, then further click to drill down your “Category Chain”. Our site will guide you to what you are looking for (even if you do not know yet 🙂 ) .
Some examples:
Category Chain: Toddler (2-5 Years) / 3T
Category Chain: Teen (13-18 Years) / Girls / Tops / M-4/6
Category Chain: Maternity / Bottoms / 28 waist
Category Chain: Men / Tops / Husky / M/32-34
Each listing page displays the price of each ‘lot’. When you click on a ‘lot’ in which you are interested, it will bring you to its detailed listing page. Should you wish to see photos of individual items within the lot then, assuming the Seller provided them, you can click through the additional photos.
Ask a Question
Should you wish to ask the Seller a question, click on the “Ask a Question” Button.
Your question will be emailed to them. When they answer, it will be emailed to you. Sellers may choose to ignore questions that don’t seem serious or low-ball offers. This is fine as most Sellers are only looking for serious inquiries.
Add to Cart
If interested in a listing, you may click the “Add to Cart” button. Please note, as these ‘lots’ are essentially one-of-a-kind, and it is first come, first served, you may only have one listing in your cart at a time. Once a lot has been purchased, it is no longer available.
A listing will sit in your cart until you confirm your purchase. (If another environmentally conscious shopper seeks to purchase the same lot, and your purchase has not been confirmed, the other shopper may purchase that ‘lot’ and it will no longer be available to you.)
Once a “lot” is in your cart (and assuming you are logged in and entered your mailing address), you will see the approximate tax associated with that listing.
Click “Proceed to Checkout” when you are ready to purchase your “lot”.
Here, assuming (1) you are logged in AND (2) you have entered your mailing address, you will see the USPS shipping options based on your Zip Code OR the Seller’s flat rate fee for shipping.
If you are a Guest and the Seller has a flat rate fee for shipping, you will see it here. Otherwise, you will need to manually enter your address to see the shipping options. (Note: as a Guest, eHMDs will not remember your mailing address and you will need to enter it for every purchase.) From the Shipping Options, choose the Option you desire.
Note: In Phase I of eHMDs, returns are not accepted unless in the case of an acknowledged issue and only United States addresses are accepted for shipping.
Making your Purchase(s)
You are protected every time you make a purchase on eHMDs. If an item never ships or does not match the listing description, you will receive a full refund. You just need to let us know within 3 days of delivery per the tracking number. Otherwise, all sales are final. The Phase I policies and systems we have in place are to protect Buyers and Sellers and ensure a safe, trustworthy marketplace to assist sustainability.
In Phase I you may make purchases on eHMDs with either a Credit Card or via PayPal. When ready to make a purchase, from your cart click on “PROCEED TO PAYPAL”.
This will securely take to you PayPal where you can utilize PayPal or pay for your purchase with a Debit/Credit Card. As a Buyer, you are charged when your purchase is confirmed. Note: In Phase 1 of our development, to ensure there are no issues with receiving your item, eHMDs holds the funds from your purchase until your order has been shipped by the seller and delivered to you.
If the Seller utilized our in-site USPS shipping options, you will receive more shipping details, including tracking information, in a separate email. If the Seller used Flat Rate delivery, they need to manually send you and eHMDs the tracking information.
Receiving your Purchase(s)
Most eHMDs sellers ship within 1-4 days of a confirmed purchase via the selected shipping method. If a sale remains unshipped by the 7th day, a Buyer can cancel the order and receive a full refund. eHMDs reserves the right to automatically cancel any order that remains unshipped by the 7th day after a confirmed purchase.
Completing the Sale
After the order is delivered, there is a 3-day window from the documented “delivery” date per the tracking number to inspect your item(s). If all is well, you do not need to do anything and funds will be released to the Seller.
Tips for Buyers
Recommendations to help your buying experience go smoothly.
Shop Intelligently
- Become familiar with the site. If possible, read listings of similar items so you know what to expect.
- Take a good look at photos, descriptions, and the condition of anything you are interested in. The photos should show the actual items for sale, not be catalog photos.
- If anything is unclear or you would like more details, ask the Seller by clicking the “Ask a Question” button. The Seller will receive an email and be able to respond to you via email. This allows you to resolve any questions you may have for the Seller before confirming your purchase.
- Any previous Questions/Answers regarding that listing will also be displayed under the Questions(Inquiries) tab on the Listing page.
- For any high-value item, like a wedding dress, do what you can to authenticate it. If you need to pass on it, so be it. (If this occurs, do not be discouraged. With so many Buyers and Sellers on eHMDs, you are still likely to find what you are looking for. 🙂 )
Seller’s Pricing
- Sellers are encouraged to set a ‘fair’ price for their lot (after all we are trying to help save the earth here.) If a ‘lot’ seems out of your range, then you may ask the Seller to reconsider their listing price. They do not have to change it.
- If the Seller has set a very, very low price for an item clearly worth more, take a 2nd look at the Seller. If in doubt, leave it out.
Paying
- eHMDs does not accept gift cards, personal/certified checks, cashless systems outside of the site/app, nor wire transfers such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
- In Phase 1, you may pay with a credit or debit card via PayPal or directly with a PayPal Account.
- Once the Confirm Purchase button has been clicked, the Seller has 7 days to mail out your ‘lot’. You will have 3 days after receiving it to let us know if there is an issue that falls within our guidelines (see below) and begin communicating with eHMDs through the Resolution Center. If no contact is made within the 3 days, the sale is then considered final.
Report problems
- If you find an item on eHMDs that isn’t allowed under our Ground Rules, or a Seller seems suspicious, let us know at eHMDsCustomerService@gmail.com so we can investigate.
Issues with a Sale
In Phase 1 of eHMDs, all sales are considered final. With that said, we take an active role to ensure both Buyer and Seller have great experiences with each and every purchase.
Once a Buyer receives a ‘purchase’, you have 3 days from its documented arrival to inspect the item(s). If a Buyer does not receive their item or the items received are not as described in the listing, you may open a case with us.
In Phase 1, Returns are not currently offered for:
- Fit Issues
- No longer want the item.
- Delayed delivery
If a Buyer (a) receives an item that is not as described within the listing, (b) is sent the wrong item(s), or (c) is sent item(s) that are in some other way not as described, the Buyer can report their problem to us within 3 days of documented delivery at eHMDsCustomerService@gmail.com. When a case is opened, the Buyer is asked to upload photos and offer details of the item and issue. (A phone call discussion may follow.) If the return is verified by eHMDs, a Buyer may ship the order back to the Seller. Per the tracking number, once the Seller receives the order in the same original condition, the Seller will have 3 (three) days to inform eHMDs the original conditions are met. After that time period, eHMDs will release payment funds from the Holding Tank back to the Buyer up to the original price of the item plus original shipping and taxes, sending it in the original form of payment.
To avoid a problem with a sale, we advise Sellers to be as descriptive and detailed as possible when creating listings. We encourage Buyers to review the listing photos and descriptions and ask the Seller any further questions before making a purchase.
View Items You Have Bought
On your Account page, click “My Purchases”.
Cancel a Confirmed Purchase
This is a tricky one. Once a Buyer has clicked “Confirm Purchase”, they have agreed to a legally binding contract to purchase the ‘lot’ of items from the Seller. In Phase 1 of eHMDs, all sales are considered final. With that said, the Buyer is welcome to reach out to the Seller via their email address to inquire if the Seller will accept a return at the Buyer’s expense.
Should the seller:
(a) Accept Returns, then they agree to receive the ‘lot’ back for a refund: The Buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping items (including a tracking number) back to the seller at their provided United States address in the same condition in which the lot originally arrived. Once the package, per the tracking number, is “delivered”, the Seller will have 3 (three) days to inform eHMDs if the above conditions are not met. After that time period, eHMDs will release payment funds from the Holding Tank up to the original price of the item plus original shipping, sending it back to the Buyer in the original form of payment.
(b) Not Accept Returns, then the buyer remains responsible for the confirmed purchase. If this occurs, don’t be discouraged. With so many Buyers and Sellers on eHMDs, you are likely to turnaround the purchase and sell the ‘lot’ quickly.

eHMDs is constantly adding and testing new features, some features may not be available to all users.

3) SELLING
Sell your ‘lot’ of clothing on eHandMeDowns in a few easy steps. (The entire idea of our site is to promote planet sustainability – where sellers may post a ‘lot’ or ‘group’ of same-size clothing (not just a single item) that can be used by another child or adult somewhere else in the country.) Our closets and dressers are full of same-sized “lots”.
3A) Registering
1) Off the bat, it is recommended you go to the “Sell” tab and register. (After doing this one time, you will simply login for future sign-ins.)
2) After creating your Username (aka: How you will be seen by fellow users. For example, “Sallys Closet”. Unfortunately apostrophes are not currently accepted. Sorry to the English teachers)
3) Enter your email address. Click return and your email will be sent a verification code. Retrieve that, Enter it, enter the rest of the requested information, and Click “Register”
4) As we are currently in Phase I of our development, our current registration is a little quirky.
At this following page, Click “SUBSCRIBE NOW”.
5) At this following page, Click “PROCEED”.
6) You are now ready to list your “lot” for sale.
7) Note for New Registers: After listing your lot, be sure to add your (a) Shipping address and (b) PayPal email address. (See 3C below)
3B) How to List your Lot
1a) If You Just Registered, you will see the Listing Page.
1b) If You Are Returning To List a Lot:
Click on: 1) My Account, 2) My Listings, then on your Dashboard click 3) My Listings, and finally 4) Add New Listing – to get to the Listing Page.
From the Listing page, follow the Listing Steps:
LISTINGS STEPS:
1) MOST IMPORTANT: To ensure Buyers can find your listing, keep checking Category Boxes until you reach the end of your category chain.
For Example:
Baby (0-24 Months) / 0-3 M
Child / Girls / Tops / Regular / M-7/8
Wedding Dresses / Petite / S/4-6
Costumes / Pets
Men / Tops / Regular / M/32-34
2) Enter:
Title – a short main description of your lot (i.e. “14 Onesies 18M”)
Price – the price for your ‘lot’ not including shipping nor tax.
(By posting a reasonable price, you will garner the best outcomes.)
Description – Post a full description of your lot.
(Be sure to mention any shortcomings and/or bonuses regarding your lot.)
Measurement Assistant Field – Help buyers understand how these items may fit.
(We recommend you enter any and all measurement info you can.)
3) Upload your Master Photo – Click on the Large Square in the upper Right.
THEN, using the smaller square, select and upload all subsequent images.
(The more photos, the more helpful to potential Buyers.)
4) CHOOSE SHIPPING OPTION
(NOTE: In Phase I, Shipping is only permitted to United States Zip Codes.)
5) Decide whether to:
* (5A) Use our In-Site USPS calculation rates for potential Buyers (You can print labels too.)
* or
* (5B) Set up a country-wide “Flat Rate” price for your lot.
* (Write your own labels, use any delivery service you desire.)

6) Click “Submit”. Your listing is now published for everyone to see!

Sellers must enter their Selling Address and PayPal email address! See Below.
3C) Add your Selling Address & PayPal email Address
3C-A) Add your Selling “Store” Address (Needed to calculate shipping.)
From the Seller’s eHMDs “Store” dashboard:
1) Click “Settings” tab.
2) Click “Location” tab.
3) Enter your Selling Address
4) Click “SAVE” at bottom of page.
3C-B) Add your PayPal email Address (needed so a Seller can be paid.)
From your store dashboard:
1) Click “Settings” tab.
2) Click “Payment” tab.
3) On the Preferred Payment Method menu, choose PayPal.
4) Enter your your PayPal email Address. Double-check it is correct.
5) Click “SAVE” at bottom of page.
3D) How Sellers Get Paid/Seller’s Commission
Buyers pay for your ‘lot’ through eHMDs. The transaction is private–you do not exchange account information with Buyers. In Standing for Sustainability, our top priority at eHMDs is to provide a safe, secure forum for the transfer of HandMeDown clothing and help save the earth. We do not see our site being used to make a full-time living. Hence, in Phase 1 of our development, it may take longer for you to receive your money due to our security measures.
Note: To be paid, a Seller must have a registered PayPal email address with eHMDs. (See 3B above.)
How it works
- Buyer makes a purchase: When a buyer makes a payment for your ‘lot’, we authorize the Buyer’s payment and place it into the eHMDs Holding Tank. The Seller has 6 days to ship or the money is returned to the Buyer and the transaction is cancelled.
- Ship the ‘Lot’ and enter the tracking number: The sooner you ship the ‘lot’, the better.
If the in-site USPS label was utilized, we automatically have the tracking number. If a Seller used flat-rate shipping, you MUST send the package tracking number to us at “eHMDsTracking@gmail.com”.
- Delivery: Once the ‘lot’ has been “delivered” as per the tracking number, Buyers have 3 days to evaluate it before the sale is final.
- Get paid: After the 3rd day, and given no issues, your money (less the 10% eHMDs/PayPal fee) will be securely transferred from the eHMDs Holding Tank to your PayPal account. Payments may be delayed on weekends and holidays.
SELLER’S COMMISSION
While we hope the top priority for using our site is a shared belief in Sustainability for our Earth, it is important to know how the fee structure works through Phase 1 of our development.
- Listing items for sale is always free on eHandMeDowns.
- There is no commission taken on shipping costs.
- After your lot/item sells, we currently need to pay PayPal 3.49% plus a flat $0.49 on each transaction. To keep the lights on, eHMDs currently takes 10% of the Sale Cost.
- Buyer’s receive what they ordered or they will receive their money back.
- Sales tax is automatically calculated, collected, and remitted to the state on your behalf.
Please note, a Seller’s earnings are based on the listing price and actual earnings may vary based on the final order price, seller discounts, and any other applicable taxes and discounts.

Compose a Great Post
The items that sell fastest on eHMDs have great photos, titles, descriptions, and fair prices.
Respond To Any “ASK A QUESTION” Inquiries
Responding to questions helps keep a buyer interested. It also helps as other potential buyers will see the clarifications on your listing.
How To Set A Price
When you’re listing a ‘lot’ of items for sale, you’ll be asked to set a price. (Do not include Shipping as it will either be automatically calculated or you can choose an additional flat rate and tax will automatically be included.)
Part of our mission here is to help save our earth. By setting a fair and reasonable price for your ‘lot’, you will garner the best outcomes.
You may encounter shoppers who hope to negotiate the price through the ASK button.
If you’re willing to be flexible on a “lot’s” price, you can communicate through the ASK button to reach an agreement. You are free to accept, negotiate, or say no to any lower offer. (Be sure to respond courteously even if you get an unacceptably low offer.)
Photo Tips
Main Description Photo
For the Main Description Photo, show the entire ‘lot’ of what you are selling as this is the photo that everyone will see on your Post and you want it to encapsulate the listing. Try to create a nice contrast between the background and the items.

Individual Description Photos
After the Main Listing, you have the opportunity to list the individual items that make up your lot. Use as many photos as needed for each individual item. Try to show the front and back of an item and then use close-ups for anything specific. (Note: Remember, it is very important to document each item’s condition for potential buyers. Buyers will be making purchases based on what is advertised. If a major defect, flaw or stain is not mentioned, it can create a problem for you upon delivery.)
Lastly, photograph the individual items by themselves and try to make sure the entire item is in the frame i.e. that you can see all “four corners” of the item.
Why Items Are Removed
Sometimes a ‘lot’ on eHMDs is removed because it doesn’t follow our Terms & Conditions.
Possible issues include inaccurate descriptions or photos, duplicate listings, including some form of content we do not allow, or if it is posted longer than our three-month policy. A Listing may also be removed if its content is prohibited on eHMDs. Certain items are not allowed because they present legal risks or may pose health and safety issues. We have also chosen not to allow items we feel are inappropriate for our eHMDs community or could be considered offensive. If a ‘lot’ you are selling is removed, you will receive a notification. If you believe your ‘lot’ has been removed in error, contact us by replying to the email.
Find Items You’re Selling
To find your items currently posted on eHMDs:
- Click “My Account” and log in.
- Click either the “MY LISTINGS” tab or “Sell” on the banner.
- From your Seller’s eHMDs “Store” Dashboard, click “My Listings”
Issues with Shipped Items
Since Buyers cannot inspect items until they arrive, they have 3 days to look it over. If there is damage, something missing, or anything else that doesn’t meet the expectations set by the Seller’s listing, the Buyer can ask the Seller for a refund. If the Seller declines or doesn’t answer, the Buyer can let us know of the issue by emailing eHMDsCustomerService@gmail.com within the 3 days of documented delivery. If the issue has merit, payment will be kept in the eHMDs Holding Tank until resolved by our Resolution Center. If the issue does not have merit, payment will be released from the eHMDs Holding Tank to the Seller.
Older listings
If a ‘lot’ takes a while to find the right buyer, it can officially stay listed on eHMDs for up to 3 months. While eHMDs reserves the right to take the listing down after that time, it may be given a grace period to find the right buyer.
